Fresh squeezed lemon juice..in your eye

I’ve always thought the phrase, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade” was really odd. Have you ever had just plain squeezed lemon juice without any sweetener or ice or water? It’s not great; so unless life is also handing you the other ingredients, your lemonade is going to be very anticlimactic.

I’ve just finished rewatching Sex and the City, so forgive me for this reference. Carrie Bradshaw once said, “is it possible to have the perfect apartment, your career excelling, and to have a great man all at the same time?” Personally, I think it is possible as I’m currently living that dream, so why does it feel like something is still missing? As humans, are we just endlessly chasing “perfection” until we die?

Sometimes I’m afraid I’m forgetting who I am and what I actually want out of this lifetime. And then I’m afraid I’m worrying about such things too much, because isn’t om simply about being, living in the moment, thankful for what is now?

It’s been 3 years since I’ve left America. Traveling is what makes me most happy; most present. It used to be just something I looked forward to every year and now I just look forward to taking a walk around my neighborhood to get out of the house, get some fresh air, and some vitamin D. If Game of Thrones was first made in 2020, the phrase wouldn’t have been, “winter is coming”, it would have been, “COVID is coming”
